Show your love of neighbor through this opportunity to join with other UCC  folk from Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota in a week of assisting with Hurricane Harvey disaster recovery in Puerto Rico. Work will include the repair of flat roofs made of concrete, wood or tin. Don’t worry about falling — few of them are far off the ground and most have a parapet wall around them.

Most groups will stay at a campground in barrack room housing separated by gender with bunk beds, very nice mattresses, and air conditioning. You will need to bring your own bedding. Kitchen facilities are available. Groups do their own cooking.

The camp asks $15/person per day. The major expense related to the trip will be transportation to/from Puerto Rico. Air fares vary widely, and are the responsibility of the individual travelers. Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, so you do not need a passport. All you need is the ID you would normally use to go through TSA at the airport.

In addition to showing your love of neighbor in Puerto Rico, you will enjoy 85-degree temperatures during the day, 65-degree temperatures at night! The temperatures will be much higher than what we typically experience in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota in February! Join us!

If you or your church would like to be part of this disaster recovery effort, email Iowa Disaster Recovery Coordinator Rev. Brice Hughes.
