Flooded areas in Iowa and Nebraska are still in need of support as clean-up and recovery continues from Spring flooding. The UCC Disaster Ministries, working in collaboration with other organizations, specializes in long-term recovery efforts.
The needs along the river are spreading and resources extremely thin. Please consider offering your time, talents and financial resources through one of these UCC Disaster Ministries Ways to Help. Or if you are able to help by volunteering, you may find some current opportunities on the Volunteer Iowa website.
If you or your church would like to be part of an effort to participate in disaster recovery in Puerto Rico, Iowa Disaster Ministry Coordinator Rev. Brice Hughes is planning a trip open to anyone in the Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota conferences Feb. 22-29, 2020 to participate in Hurricane Harvey recovery. In addition to showing your love of neighbor in Puerto Rico, you will enjoy 85-degree temperatures during the day, 65-degree temperatures at night. The temperatures will be much higher than what we typically experience in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota in February! If you are interested in the Puerto Rico trip or have questions about the local disaster response, email Hughes.
