The Tri-Conference Ministries is proud to announce that Rev. Ellis Arnold will join the team as our new Associate Conference Minister!
Rev. Arnold will serve the Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota Conferences starting on Feb. 1. They look forward to offering care and support to the pastors and churches in the Iowa Conference as well as supporting the work of Committees on Ministry.
Ellis grew up in Bloomington, IL, studied religion and philosophy at Illinois Wesleyan University, wherein they focused on Early Christian history and the apocryphal gospels. Ellis earned their Masters of Divinity from Emory University in Atlanta, GA and soon began working as a chaplain and for the UCC’s Southeast Conference. For the last six years, Rev. Arnold has served as pastor of Decorah UCC in Iowa while also serving as adjunct staff for the Iowa Conference UCC. They are also part of the UCC Pension Boards Next Generation Leadership Initiative.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ellis and the passion they have for building leadership capacity in the church,” said Brigit Stevens, executive conference minister. “We know Ellis’s many gifts and skills will serve us very well.”
When Rev. Arnold is not working, they (a 3-time UCC RAGBRAI participant) are riding their bike through the hills of northeast Iowa, making stained glass windows, building websites, or hanging out with their spouse, Karen, and the dachshunds, cats, and parrot that rule their home.
Rev. Arnold’s pronouns are they/them/theirs.
The Tri-Conference Ministries is a collaborative enterprise to creatively and efficiently share staff among the Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota conferences of the United Church of Christ.
