The Tri-Conference Ministries is proud to announce that Rev. Samantha Houser will join the team as our new Associate Conference Minister!
Rev. Houser will serve the Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota Conferences starting on Feb. 1 from the Sioux Falls, SD office. She looks forward to offering care and support to the pastors and churches in the South Dakota Conference as well as developing our search and call process to better serve the needs of our churches.
Rev. Houser grew up as the youngest of five in small town Iowa with a teacher and a railroad worker for parents. She earned a bachelors in psychology and then got her M.Div at Eden Seminary. Sam has served as pastor of Zion UCC in Waukon, Iowa for nine years while also serving as adjunct staff for the Iowa Conference UCC. She is also part of the UCC Pension Boards Next Generation Leadership Initiative.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sam and the passion she has for building relationships within the church,” said Brigit Stevens, executive conference minister. “With her long experience in both the local and wider church, we know she will support the ministries of our churches exceptionally well.”
When Rev. Houser is not working, she is going on adventures and re-creating science experiments with her spouse Dustin and their four children. She also loves being creative in all sorts of ways including drawing, painting, throwing pottery, singing, playing the guitar, reading science fiction novels and binge watching trendy Netflix series.
Rev. Houser’s preferred pronouns are she/her/hers.
The Tri-Conference Ministries is a collaborative enterprise to creatively and efficiently share staff among the Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota conferences of the United Church of Christ.
